Description
Victorian Era Shawl / Collar: This piece can be worn as a shawl collar or would serve as a beautiful accent piece to add to a coat.Velvet, taffeta/nylon , appliques, ruffles, hand-stitching, as found. There are hooks and eyes to pull the sides to the middle, forming a single drape, not two, as pictured.
Photos will show threadbare places on the cording, especially toward the top, however the bottom of the tails, it is fine. I had planned to dye these to conceal, but never did.
I think I have priced it accordingly.
The Back: Some photos make the fabric appear faded, but there is no fading.
The last photos show places where the fabric has tiny holes which someone has folded over and stitched or pressed to hide repairs. Holes look like they came from pulling out thread or cording from alterations as was common at the time. Please ask for more photos if desired. It is difficult to describe
the handwork on these old pieces.
Length approx. 45"- 46" from mid back at collar to bottom, as photographed.
Will be shipped in a large padded envelope unless otherwise requested.
Shipping to mainland US only. No returns.
